Nimra

A US phone number for a business that is not in the US

You export, you run an online store, you sell a service to American customers. They will call a number that looks like theirs long before they call one that starts with a country code they don't recognise.

Can a company outside the US get a US phone number?

Yes. A US number in an app needs no US office, address or SIM. With Nimra you pick a +1 number in the app and answer it on the phone you already have, anywhere with Wi-Fi or mobile data. US customers and suppliers reach you with a domestic call.

What it changes for the business

  • Customers call. A local number on your website, invoices and listings removes the one reason an American customer hesitates to pick up the phone.
  • Suppliers and partners call back. Leaving a US number on a voicemail gets a return call. Leaving an international one often doesn't.
  • Work stays off your personal number. Business calls arrive on their own line, with its name on the screen, so you answer as the business.
  • Nights stay yours. US working hours fall in your evening and night. Quiet hours send those calls to voicemail, and you read them in the morning.

A line for each part of the business

Each line has its own contacts, texts, voicemail and settings, and you can drop one without touching the others.

What the number does

  • Calls in and out, to US and Canadian numbers and most other countries.
  • Rings on your lock screen even when the app is closed, with call waiting and hold for a second caller.
  • Receives texts, with payments, deliveries and bookings easy to spot.
  • Voicemail written out in English or Arabic, so a message is something you read between meetings.
  • Prepaid credit, no contract. See prices.

What it is not: a Nimra line rings one person's phone. It is not a call centre, a switchboard or a toll-free number, and it can't send texts yet. Some banks and payment platforms refuse internet-based numbers for security codes. For a team that needs extensions and shared inboxes, you need a business phone system; for an owner who answers the phone, this is enough. Why some apps reject numbers.

How to set it up

  1. Get Nimra on your iPhone or Android phone.
  2. Pick a US number and name the line after its job: Sales, Support.
  3. Add credit through the App Store or Google Play.
  4. Set quiet hours for the time difference, record a greeting, and publish the number.

Common questions

What does it cost my US customers to call?

Nothing extra. They dial a normal US number, so it is a domestic call for them.

Can I have separate numbers for sales and support?

Yes. Add as many lines as you need. Each has its own name, contacts, quiet hours and voicemail, and every call shows which line it is for.

Is there a contract?

No. Each line is paid from prepaid credit and renews every 30 days. Stop adding credit, or turn renewal off, and it lapses.

Is it a call centre or a team phone system?

No. A Nimra line rings one person's phone. It suits an owner or a small business that answers its own calls, not a team that needs extensions and a switchboard.
